The Monday Will Always Raise a Glass to Kate Urquhart

Where: The Monday Night Comedy Show

The Monday Night Comedy Show presents a night of long sets from a selection of eight local comics from the longest running comedy showcase in the Twin Cities. There’s also a wild-card spot if you want to try to take the stage yourself. Let comedy help you through the winter blues!

YogaQuest Continues: A Series of Unfortunate Events

What: Sport & Fitness
When: Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 p.m.
Where: YQdio

Come and experience YogaQuest, a blend of yoga and fanfiction storytelling led by certified yoga instructors. Experience a yoga workout experience and a story at the same time. This week’s theme is A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Wibbly Wobbly Wednesday

What: Meetup, Trivia
When: Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Driftwood Char Bar

Join your fellow Whovians and trivia fanatics at the Driftwood Char Bar on Wednesday night for Minnesota’s only regular Doctor Who trivia night, brought to you by the creators of TC Trek Trivia. This is an all-ages event with no cover, so expect seats to go quickly.

Weekly Comics Chat

What: Meetup, Comics
When: Thursday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Kitty Cat Klub

The Girls Only Comic Club hosts a Weekly Comics Chat on Thursday nights at the Kitty Cat Klub, where there will be “Coffee! Comics! Waffles! Talking!” Additional information about this event is posted on the Girls Only Comic Club’s Facebook group. Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to join.

Crafty Geek/Make It Sew

What: Crafting, Meetup
When: Thursday, January 26th at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Event Horizon at the Waterbury Center

The Geek Partnership Society’s Crafty Geek club and its sub-club Make It Sew meet Thursday evenings at the Waterbury Center and invite you to “bring your crafty stuff to do” or to “hang out and work with the crafty stuff we have here!”

Protospiel MN

What: Gaming, Crafting,
When: Friday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m to Sunday, January 29th at 5:00 p.m.
Where: Best Western Plus Bloomington

This weekend-long event is all about getting professional feedback for games you are looking to design. Protospiel will also allow you to try all sorts of new games before they hit Kickstarter and the market.

Loud at the Library

What: Meetup, Books, Nightlife
When: Friday, January 27th at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Downtown St. Paul Central Library

The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library concert series Loud at the Library kicks off its 2017 season on Friday with live music from Sarah White with Eric Mayson, a cash bar, and free beer provided by Summit Brewing to anyone bringing a current library card. You can also tour the library’s Innovation Lab maker space before the show. (We’re giving away free tickets to this event! Click here to find out how to enter by 7:00 p.m. January 22.)

Tsuinishi Anime Club

When: Friday, January 27th at 8:30 p.m.
Where: Geek Partnership Society

Anime Twin Cities has joined forces with the Geek Partnership Society “to bring a little bit of fun to you on the second and fourth Fridays of each month with this cosponsored anime club.” The group will show various anime movies and series.

Friday Night Magic

What: Meetup, Gaming
When: Friday, January 27th at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Mischief Toy Store

Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul invites you to experience some Magic with them this Friday night. The space is limited to 24 players, so arrive early to get a spot. Participation is $5 for standard events and $15 for draft events.

Geek Slink & Drink: The Quarter Quell

What: Meetup, Nightlife, Comedy
When: Friday, January 27th at 10:00 p.m.
Where: Bryant-Lake Bowl and Theater

Geek Slink & Drink returns to the Bryant-Lake Bowl for a night of comedy from Margret Blaylock, belly dancing, guest performers, and others to help you forget about what’s brewing in District 1.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

What: Meetup, Gaming
When: Saturday, January 28th at 10:00 a.m.
Where: YQdio

Another event held at the YogaQuest YQdio this week is Saturday Morning Cartoons, which features “classic (and not-so-classic) Saturday morning cartoons, plus yoga, plus the stupidest cereals in existence!” The yoga practice will consist of “some gentle wake-me-up vinyasa followed by a session of stretchy, restorative yoga, all set to cartoons, and wrapped up with a bowl of delicious technicolor goodness.”

Transvestite Soup Presents The Rocky Horror Picture Show

What: Movie, Meetup
When: Saturday, January 28th at 11:59 p.m.
Where: Uptown Theatre

At 11:59 p.m. on the last Saturday of every month, the Uptown Theatre screens The Rocky Horror Picture Show, “the longest running midnight movie of all time.” Transvestite Soup is the Twin Cities’ “shadow cast” for the showings, performing for your pleasure as part of the cult classic’s well-established tradition.

Shieldmaiden Sundays

What: Gaming, Meetup
When: Sunday, January 29th at 12:00 p.m.
Where: The Source Comics and Games

Shieldmaiden Sundays is a new dedicated space for female nerds and geeks at the Source. This will be a recurring weekly event providing a space for women to play games, chat about comics, cosplay, or just enjoy the company of other geeks.

Amber Lance Presents: Breakwaters Comic Release Party

What: Comics, Nightlife,
When: Sunday, January 29th at 1:00 p.m.
Where: Ngon Bistro

Celebrate the release of Amber Lance Studio‘s second comic, Breakwaters. This is a great chance to meet talented artists while listening to DJ sets from Booka B and enjoying food and drink specials.
