Joe Weinberg found a typewriter in the closet when he was six. Ever since, he’s been writing on both sides of the closet and has found solace in the world of geek. He remembers the time before time, when the Internet wasn’t really a thing, and is so glad to be out of those dark ages.
After an introduction to D&D at age nine, Joe became a dungeon master, then a storyteller, then a judge, then many other things as he worked his way through the world of tabletop RPGs. He learned to LARP at 18, and the world has never been the same since.
In between all these geek obsessions, and between episodes of Doctor Who, Joe became way too educated, ending up with a BA, two MAs, and a PhD, making him a truly nerdy geek. He taught people how to write and how to argue in between bouts with dragons and treks through post apocalyptic wastelands. Recently, Joe has begun giving back to the nerd community with a podcast, Late To the Party, where he tries to be entertaining and educational at the same time.
Also known as NerdyDoctorGeek, Joe respects all things geek and nerdy, and promises not to judge others based on what makes them happy. There are no guilty pleasures: if it makes you happy, it’s good (as long as it isn’t hurting someone else without their consent!).
