Lauren Back’s geekdom began at an early age with a relentless pursuit of knowledge. From teaching themselves to play bagpipes as a teenager to learning the art and science of jam making in their 20s, Lauren has always been drawn to learning for learning’s sake and loves to listen to others talk about the things that excite them the most. You’ll never hear them say, “What do you do?” at a party. It will much more likely be, “What do you love?”
Lauren is a voracious reader, a relentless advocate for social justice and equity, and an avid consumer of local food and ethically traded coffee. They geek out over Medieval and Renaissance music, sexuality and alternative relationships, and pickles. They believe everyone should pickle everything.
