Born right at the beginning of ’90s in Minneapolis on the last day of winter, McKinley Ciepielinski is sometimes called the Harbinger of Spring, the messenger of a new era if you will. He came on the scene in ’91 with a controller in hand and a love for Sonic that began his nerdy career; as the years went by, mythology took hold and he could always be found with his nose in a book and headphones on (Linkin Park, mostly—no shame).
While angsty musicians were the bedrock of his teenage years, his first opinions of music were formed listening to Motown records and artists such as Maze, Smokey Robinson, and Michael Jackson, moonwalking and dancing through school. Usually he can be found at his local dive (Matt’s) or speakeasy.
