Twin Cities Geek launched in January 2015. Since then, we’ve published over 350 articles, over 250 events have been added to our community calendar, and Minnesota’s very own geek culture magazine has grown to over 3,500 unique visitors every month—often quite a bit over! As more and more of you engage with us, we’ve also been watching our social media follows grow. In April of this year, completely by word-of-mouth, we hit the modest but significant milestone of 2,000 Facebook likes!
To celebrate all of you who have followed the Twin Cities Geek Facebook page in the last year, we have put together something a little special.
Over the next 10 WEEKS, we will be holding sweepstakes for a gamut of awesome geek-themed prize bundles that will include books, art, games, and more goodies, all leading up to one awesome grand prize!!!!!
All of this prize-giving will be taking place on Facebook—we’re celebrating Facebook likes, after all—but we’ll keep this page updated here on TwinCitiesGeek.com as well. If you’d like to get in on the sweepstakes and your chance to win something really cool, head over and make sure you have our Facebook page liked right now, and make sure you also select “See First” so all the sweepstakes posts show up on your feed.
Of course, all this giving will be no small feat, and we couldn’t have done it on our own. We were overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm of the following Minnesota companies and individuals who agreed to help us by providing prizes for this giveaway:
Fallout Shelter Arcade
Fallout Shelter is the only place in Minnesota (and one of the only in the country) to experience the immersive gaming environment of Virtual World simulator pods, running BattleTech and Red Planet. The arcade’s home base is in Northeast Minneapolis, but during April and May the team is on the road bringing their pods to the local convention circuit: you can spot them at AniMinneapolis, MantiCon, 2D Con, and more.
Quarto Publishing Group
Quarto is a nonfiction publisher with offices in downtown Minneapolis whose imprints create heavily visual books on subjects from space travel to TV and movies to costuming to homebrewing and more. You can look forward to a lot of geeky books in this giveaway, and with just one exception all of them were published and provided by Quarto.
Trex Tuesdays
Bringing you dinosaur-themed hilarity every week from locations around the Twin Cities, Trex Tuesdays is also hosting the Prehistoric Party on May 28, 2016, which (among other things) will try to set the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs.
Source Comics and Games
Offering Minnesota’s largest and best collection of comic books and related stuff, all manners of games and gaming supplies, cool collectibles, models, toys, unique snacks and beverages, and a great big gaming area where you can get together with your friends and just plain have fun, Source Comics and Games is not just a store . . . it’s a part of our community.
Universe Games
Universe Games, located at Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis, is a local shop selling board games, card games, miniatures, and more in addition to hosting tournaments, workshops, and other events.

Just a guy who loves to read and draw comics. Jesse Hedman’s press is called AFC Press, and you can find his books at the Source, Meadhall, Subtext Books, Comic Book College, Big Brain, Quimby’s, and hopefully soon Boneshaker Books, Kilgore Books, and Amalgam Comics.

Featuring tournaments, live music, speedrunning, cosplay and more, 2D Con aims to be the best event around, no matter what your gaming style is. 2D Con 2016 is June 3–5.
CONsole Room
Since 2014, CONsole Room has been an annual gathering place for enthusiasts of Doctor Who in Minneapolis–St. Paul, featuring special guests, a masquerade, and lots of other great programming. The 2016 convention takes place June 3–5 at the Hilton MSP Airport/Mall of America, with pre-registration closing May 15.
Steamship Coffee and Tea

Big, huge, enormous thanks go to everyone above. The Fine Print
No purchase necessary. Twin Cities Geek will pay shipping for all prizes to any valid address in Minnesota by a delivery service of its choice. Other expenses incurred as a result of winning this prize, including taxes, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
How to Enter: To enter to win a given prize, a Facebook user must “Like” the Twin Cities Geek page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/TwinCitiesGeek) and comment on the post by Twin Cities Geek describing that prize. Only “top-level” comments will be counted—a nested reply to another comment does not count as an entry. One entry per Facebook user per calendar day; subsequent comments by a single user on the same calendar day will be deleted or discounted before a winner is selected. Odds of winning are dependent on the number of entries received. By entering the contest, each entrant gives Twin Cities Geek permission to announce the full name displayed by their Facebook account if chosen as the winner.
For prizes announced on Sunday, entries will be collected from the time the announcement is posted on Facebook until 12:00 p.m. Central time the following Saturday. For prizes announced on days other than Sunday, a period will be specified for the collection of entries. Entries submitted outside the collection periods will not be considered valid.
Selection and Notification of Winner: Except where specified otherwise, each comment on a given post will be assigned a number in ascending order based on the order in which the comments were made. A number will then be chosen by means of a random number generator, and the user who posted the comment corresponding to that number will be deemed the winner.
If Twin Cities Geek is unable to reach a winner within seven (7) days of selection, or if a winner is ineligible or otherwise unable to accept their prize, then the above process will be repeated until the prize is successfully awarded.
Eligibility: Giveaway is open only to legal residents of Minnesota who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
Persons who are current Twin Cities Geek contributors and/or editors or have been at any time within the three (3) months prior to the start of this giveaway are not eligible for entry. Individuals who are employees of Fallout Shelter Arcade, Quarto Publishing Group, Universe Games, Steamship Coffee and Tea, Source Comics and Games, 2D Con, or CONsole Room during the acceptance period for entries for a given prize are not eligible for entry for that prize. Individuals whose work has been or will be given away as prizes in this giveaway, including as part of the Twin Cities Comic Collective pack, are also ineligible for entry.
