Twin Cities Geeks Help a Treasured Jacket Find Its Way Home

Here’s your periodic reminder that social media can do awesome things.
Over the weekend, a Facebook user posted to the Twin Cities Geeks discussion group to signal-boost a photo of a jean jacket they’d seen shared in a neighborhood group. “This apparently well-loved jacket was found, dumped in an alley in S.Mpls. Just trying to find the owner,” they wrote. From the dozens of unique pins, it was obvious to the community that whoever it belonged to must be missing it. Sleuths in the group immediately started identifying the pieces of flair and speculating on who the owner was.
Happily, it didn’t take too long for commenters to recognize the jacket as belonging to Julietta Borman, who had posted on Facebook back in September about it being stolen from her car. By Monday, she had it back—and her husband, Greg, shared a photo of the happy reunion with the group. Needless to say, everyone was thrilled.
