TC Trek Trivia Turns 10

On August 9, 2023, TC Trek Trivia will be hosting its Star Trek trivia night at Driftwood Char Bar in Minneapolis like it does every month. But this one is special: the geeky event is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
After returning from a convention in Chicago in 2013, Twin Cities Star Trek fans T. Aaron and Kara Cisco were looking for a way to “extend their fandom experience,” as they put it. Teaming up with fellow Trekkies Lisa Rude and Sean Casey, they settled on a trivia night and got to work. Since launch, they’ve almost never missed a month—when the pandemic hit, they quickly moved to Facebook livestreaming and Zoom.
“If back in 2013—after the first TC Trek Trivia, where we had fewer than 10 players—you would’ve told me or Kara, Lisa, and Sean that a decade later we’d be hosting dozens of Trekkies every month, that we’d have access and discounts to big Trek events and have hosted screening nights, and even Paramount would reach out to us to promote Star Trek: Beyond, we would’ve chuckled quite a bit,” says cofounder/coordinator (and former Twin Cities Geek contributor) T. Aaron Cisco. “But here we are in 2023, and … yes, to say we’re thrilled to be celebrating our 10th anniversary would be a gross understatement.”
In honor of the milestone, the August 9 trivia night promises Star Trek goodies and a “cavalcade of surprises.” The fun starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to both in-person and virtual teams; preregistration closes at 5:00, but if you don’t have a team, you can join one at the event. Driftwood Char Bar is located at 4415 Nicollet Avenue South in Minneapolis.
